Pippa El-Kadhi Brown: VISTA

Behind dark curtains, snow seems to be whiter.

Indeed, everything comes alive when contradictions accumulate' - Gaston Bachelard

LAMB Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new work by Pippa El-Kadhi Brown.

In this new body of work, the artist takes us through veiled passageways between sun, moon and sky. A glass frame between home and universe. Exploring ethereal moments in the spaces in-between, Pippa El-Kadhi Brown’s window paintings open a dialogue between the outside and the in. The two merge and separate in tandem in an intertwined dance of human and home.

Draped curtains transcend their material form and become sacred veils, assuming an almost mystical role within. Highlighting humans natural yearn for outside space whilst contradicting with our desire for internal comfort. The figures and houseplants mirror one another and merge. Organic beings rooted in domestic bliss, but at the same time relying on the veiled world beyond the frame.

VISTA is a celebration of these transitional spaces. Midway points that frame a whisper of a view. Windows are portals. Delicate intermediates between air that is both fresh and stuffy, ground that is both dry and wet. Framed with sills, often scattered with relics, and draped with delicate shining veils.
